A man nearly hacked an acquaintance to death with an axe during an argument in the Sokolsky District.

      Incidents: A criminal case has been opened in the Sokolsky District against a local resident suspected of attempted murder. This was reported by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      According to the investigation, the incident occurred on 11 August 2025 in the village of Khmelnichnoye. While standing near one of the houses on Pridorozhnaya Street, the man, during a conflict with an acquaintance, struck him on the head with the blade of an axe.

      The victim was rushed to a medical facility, where he received the necessary care. Thanks to the timely intervention of doctors, the man survived.

      An investigator of the Gorodets Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has opened a criminal case against the attacker under the article on attempted murder (Part 3 of Art. 30, Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

      The court has placed the defendant under house arrest.

      Investigative authorities are currently continuing work to establish all the circumstances of the incident, as well as the reasons that led to the crime.
