A criminal case has been opened in Nizhny Novgorod against a 47-year-old man suspected of rehabilitating Nazism. The investigation is being conducted by the investigative department for the Leninsky District of the city within the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast branch of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
According to investigators, in May 2025 the suspect published a comment on one of the social networks which, it is alleged, denied the crimes established by the judgment of the International Military Tribunal.
According to expert opinion, the text contains features indicating linguistic and psychological rehabilitation of Nazism. The criminal case was opened under paragraph "v" of part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Materials for initiating the case were handed over to the investigative authorities by officers of the regional FSB directorate and the Center for Countering Extremism of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
As a preventive measure, the man has been placed under a written undertaking not to leave and an obligation to maintain proper behavior.
Investigators continue to collect evidence and establish all the circumstances of the incident. The necessary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out.
Earlier it was reported that a court in Nizhny Novgorod upheld the sentence against singer Sharlot* for rehabilitating Nazism.
