      A criminal case has been opened in Zavolzhye of the Gorodetsky District over a road traffic accident in which a child was injured. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      According to the police, the incident occurred on 12 August at around 14:30 on Ponomaryova Street, near house No. 1. A 19-year-old driver, while behind the wheel of an Audi, was driving on the roadway and struck a girl who was running across the road at the time of the collision. As a result of the accident, the girl sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

      Investigators of the Intermunicipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Gorodetsky" have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation."

      Police officers are currently continuing to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
