In the Church of Ilyinskoye, they celebrated the feast day and conducted a military-sports game.

      On August 2nd, in the church dedicated to the Prophet Elijah of God in Voskresensky Deanery of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, the patronal feast was celebrated, and a Military-Sports Game was held. The Divine Liturgy was served by the dean of Voskresensky District, Archpriest Alexander Dolbunov, who was assisted by the rector of the Ilyinsky Church, Father Andrey Manoshkin, and the senior priest of the Voskresensky Cathedral, Father Alexander Makarov. In his sermon, the senior priest stated: "When a person endures various hardships, the Lord helps him overcome them. We know how our Lord Jesus Christ endured the Cross's suffering, the betrayal by his closest disciples—who, except for John the Theologian, all abandoned Him while He was hanging on the Cross for us. The Apostle Peter, on a spiritual level, denied Christ, although he proudly declared: 'I do not know how others, but I will never deny You!' (not literally), but in a short time, he did it three times. Another apostle, Judas, betrayed Christ physically, starting His Crucifixion with a kiss. In our lives, we encounter moments when it seems we have no strength left to endure family troubles, work issues, but we must bear them all, viewing through the prism of Holy Scripture and the Gospel how Lord Jesus Christ endured all suffering, even unto death. Over time, we lose love for our loved ones and other Christians, often citing a mid-life crisis. Remember, divine love is what we should turn to first, because our Lord Jesus Christ manifests His love and grace to the entire human race and, out of His divine love, sends us saints, including Prophet Elijah, whose memory we celebrate today—to reaffirm our faith and to learn many virtues for the benefit of our lives. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, let us endeavor to emulate the saints, to connect our lives with the Evangelical teaching, to act according to Evangelical love, and to kindle in ourselves divine love through all suitable means, foremost prayer, participation in the Sacraments, and visiting the Divine Temple. Amen." After the service, clergy and parishioners processed around the church in a procession. Then, on the church grounds, a Military-Sports Game organized by war veterans took place, consisting of more than ten stations: rifle assembly and disassembly, medical training ("Voenmed"), grenade throwing, chess, orienteering-quest, a master class on weaving camouflage nets for the front, quizzes, and much more. There was also field dining: porridge, tea, fragrant pies, and patriotic songs.
