Dzerzhinsky employer underpaid an employee and became a defendant in a criminal case

      A criminal case has been initiated in Dzerzhinsk against the head of a company manufacturing steel structures for systematically paying an employee less than the legally established minimum wage. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      During an inspection, the city prosecutor’s office found that from October to December 2024, as well as from February to March 2025, the employee was paid below the minimum wage (MINWAGE). The total amount of debt exceeded 20,000 rubles.

      It was also established that the employer had the actual ability to pay the full salary. However, funds were allocated to other operational needs not prioritized.

      The inspection materials have been transferred to the preliminary investigation body, and as a result, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 145.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — paying wages for more than two months below the federal minimum wage established by law.

      The investigation process and the issue of debt repayment are under the control of the prosecutor’s office.

      It is remindful that the minimum wage in the Nizhny Novgorod region amounts to 22,440 rubles.

      Earlier, it was reported that employers will be prohibited from cutting bonuses by more than 20% of the salary.
