      A fire broke out in one of the apartments of a multi-story residential building in Pavlovo. The fire covered about 15 square meters, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene. They managed to evacuate 20 people, including three children.

      In the apartment where the fire started, a 55-year-old homeowner was found dead. He did not have time to escape before the rescuers arrived.

      Fifteen emergency personnel and four fire trucks fought the blaze.

      Preliminary information suggests that the cause of the fire might have been carelessness during smoking. All details of the incident are currently being clarified.

      Earlier, it was reported that a fire in Vetluga destroyed a private house caused by a refrigerator fire.
