Alexander Bastrykin has ordered a review of reports regarding dog attacks on small children in Dzerzhinsk, according to the Information Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Media reports indicate that in Dzerzhinsk, a dog has attacked children multiple times. In October of last year, an aggressive animal attacked a seven-year-old girl in a dormitory, causing injuries. In July this year, a similar incident occurred—another girl was injured. Parents sought help from law enforcement, but received no response. The dog owner, who violated containment rules, has not yet been held responsible.
An criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region concerning these incidents. Additionally, a departmental check has been started regarding police officers' actions. Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has demanded a report from the head of the regional SK, Ayrat Akhmetshin, on the interim and final results of the investigation, as well as on the progress of the departmental review. All assignments are under control at the central office of the agency.
