SocietyIncorrect use of repellents can be dangerous to health. Allergist and pediatrician Ekaterina Kulova explained that a reaction to a repellent can occur immediately after application. The specialist's comment was published by the editor-in-chief of the medical publication "Stationary Press," Alexey Nikonov, on his Telegram channel.

"Skin may turn red, and swelling may appear. In such a situation, it is important to rinse off the product as quickly as possible and take an antihistamine," she explained.

The doctor noted that poisoning from the vapors of the repellent is possible, although it is extremely rare. For example, if a person is nearby during spraying and inhales the vapors, a toxic reaction may develop. "Usually, it passes quickly, but in rare cases, severe consequences are possible," added Kulova.

When inhaling an aerosol, the doctor advises to immediately rinse the eyes, rinse the mouth and nose, and ensure access to fresh air. Special caution should be exercised by people with bronchial asthma when using aerosols. The doctor recommends applying the spray to clothing and shoes before going outside, avoiding contact with skin and respiratory pathways. For children with asthma, it is better to choose creams or ointments rather than aerosols. It is also not recommended to use fumigators with smoke in their presence, as this can cause airway obstruction.

Additionally, the expert recommends choosing only certified products labeled "for children" and always checking the expiration date before use.
