July and August will be abnormal: meteorologists have revised the forecast through the end of summer 2025

      Record-breaking temperatures, droughts, and rains — what awaits us this summer

      Summer 2025 promises to be one of the most extreme for Russia in recent decades: meteorologists and climatologists note a concerning trend — the country will experience anomalous heat, sharp weather contrasts, and record temperatures in nearly all regions. According to meteorologist Alexander Sergeev, the European part of the country and Southern Siberia will be at the heat’s epicenter: July and August may break last year's records, with temperatures exceeding +30°C in major cities for weeks — a real stress not only for people but also for infrastructure.

      Expert forecasts are confirmed by climatologist Mikhail Markin. His calculations indicate that June, July, and August will be among the three hottest months in the history of meteorological observations in Russia. The situation’s alarming aspects are not only the heat but also a catastrophic lack of precipitation, which will lead to soil drying, decreased crop yields, and an increased risk of wildfires in the south of the country. Dry weather in June will affect Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Kemerovo region, Altai, Khakassia, Tuva, and southern areas of Krasnoyarsk Krai. In July and August, the problem will intensify in the Volga region and Perm Krai.

      On the other hand, Siberia and the Far East will experience an excess of precipitation this summer. Heavy and frequent rains are forecasted in Kamchatka, the Kurils, Amur region, Zabaykalsky Krai, Khabarovsk Krai, and Buryatia. Extreme weather phenomena — severe thunderstorms, hail, hurricanes — are expected in many regions of the country. On the Black Sea coast, experts estimate that heavy July rains may impact the tourist season, while in Central Russia, August will bring increased cyclonic activity and hurricane risks.

      According to Alexander Kolesov, the chief meteorologist of Saint Petersburg, the summer in the capital will be warm: the average July maximum will be +24°C, with around +22°C in Saint Petersburg. This weather could be comfortable for tourists, but a moisture deficit is noted: Central Russia and the Moscow region will face a lack of rainfall and soil drying, causing concern among farmers. Climate scientist Nikolai Tereshonok warns: long-term forecasts predict unfavorable conditions for sowing.

      Sharp temperature fluctuations and the collision of hot and cold air masses this summer will lead to an increase in dangerous atmospheric phenomena: powerful thunderstorms, heavy rains, hail, squalls. High humidity and heat in the south will alternate with nocturnal rains and rapid weather changes in Siberia.

      Preparing for summer 2025 means minimizing risks:

      - stock up on drinking water in case of supply disruptions;

      - wear light-colored clothing, use high-SPF sunscreens, and hats;

      - monitor daily updates from the Hydrometeorological Center, do not ignore weather warnings;

      - reinforce balconies, windows, and roofs to protect against winds and hail;

      - pay close attention to your health — seek medical help at the first signs of overheating or dizziness.

      Extreme heat and unpredictable precipitation are a challenge for everyone planning vacations, working outdoors, gardening, and harvesting. Prepare for the trials, follow experts' recommendations — only then can you face this difficult summer as safely as possible for yourself and your loved ones, writes the source.
