How Nizhny Novgorod Farewelled the IX "Gorky Fest": Photo Report

      Culture and Leisure The closing ceremony of the ninth festival of new Russian cinema "Gorky fest" (18+) took place on July 16 at the Gorky Drama Theater in Nizhny Novgorod. As on the opening day, the evening began with a red carpet event attended by film and show business stars, jury members, and crews of competing films.

      Guests were traditionally welcomed by the festival president, Mikhail Poruchenkov, and general producer Oksana Mikheeva. According to the organizers, the ninth festival was a preparation for the anniversary event scheduled for 2026.

      This year’s theme was avant-garde in cinema and domestic art in honor of the 100th anniversary of the release of the film "Battleship Potemkin" (0+). Over the course of the festival week, "Gorky fest" attracted 50,000 viewers and garnered 3.3 million views on social media.

      Among the red carpet guests were actors Slava Kopeikin, Vlad Konoplev, Lyudmila Artemyeva, Irina Bezrukova, Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka, Oleg Haas, Alexandra Revenko, Alexey Fedorchenko, and many others.

      During the closing ceremony, hosted by brothers Alexey and Alexander Zolotovitsky, awards were presented to the winners of the competition program. The expert jury selected the top films, naming 19 best films. The full list of laureates can be viewed here.

      The grand prize for Best Film was awarded to Kirill Verkhozina's "Kolkhandra" (0+). The festival concluded with a screening of this film, as well as a special showing of "Lunatics" (18+) in memory of Yuri Moroz.
