Nizhny Novgorod school students and university students will learn about 3D printing on a new science-popular tourist route.
A new popular science route, "Innovations in Industry: Layer by Layer," is launching as part of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia, with the support of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The program is designed for school students, university students, and young professionals, aiming to foster interest in engineering and technical professions. The route includes visits to key scientific and manufacturing sites in Nizhny Novgorod where additive technologies and elements of "smart" manufacturing are already being implemented. "Today, it is important not only to talk about the digital transformation of industry but also to demonstrate it in practice. Through such routes, young people can see with their own eyes how high-tech manufacturing works and how knowledge gained in universities is transformed into specific products. This is a crucial element of career guidance and popularization of engineering," emphasized Ekaterina Solntseva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Participants will visit the "Automation of Mechanical Engineering" department at Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev, explore the "Smart Factory" educational and scientific laboratory, participate in a 3D modeling workshop, and take an overview tour of the technical museum, which displays rare samples of domestic engineering thought. The main highlight of the route will be an enterprise, LLC "TPK Foliplast," specializing in industrial 3D printing of parts for mechanical engineering, aerospace, and medicine. Here, participants will observe the complete cycle of product creation, from digital design to finished product. Additionally, school students and university students will have the opportunity to work with professional software, acquire initial modeling skills, and participate in an interactive quiz. Currently, there are six routes in the Nizhny Novgorod Region that combine popular science and industrial tourism. The project is implemented by the regional headquarters of the Decade of Science and Technology in partnership with educational institutions and scientific and industrial organizations of the region. All routes undergo expert verification and meet the requirements of the federal science popularization program within the framework of the presidential initiative. The "Innovations in Industry: Layer by Layer" route is recommended for middle and high school students, technical students, and youth interested in modern technologies. More detailed information can be found on the tour operator's website or on the portal: Nauka.RF. Reminder: the development of new popular science routes is part of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality," implemented under the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
