Nizhny Novgorod residents will begin receiving permits for hunting game birds on July 14.

      Permits for hunting game birds with hunting dogs and trained birds will begin to be issued in the Nizhny Novgorod region from July 14. This is reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The hunting season with hunting dogs in our region is established as follows:

      — from July 25 to November 30 — for moorland and meadow game;

      — from August 5 to February 28 — for woodcock (except for wood pigeon);

      — from August 5 to November 30 — for field game and woodcock;

      — from August 16 to November 30 — for waterfowl.

      Moorland and meadow game include the common snipe, lapwing, woodcock, the Eurasian teal, dotterel, curlew, ruffs, snipes, stone curlews, and quail.

      Woodland game includes hazel grouse, woodcock, capercaillie, and black grouse.

      Field game includes quail, grey partridge, pigeons, and turtle doves.

      Waterfowl includes ducks, geese, Eurasian pochard, and great crested grebe.

      Recreational and sport hunting of such species as white partridge, green woodpecker, and sandpipers is prohibited.

      It is also reminded that during fire hazard classes IV-V, visiting forests is prohibited.
