More than 500 medical studies were conducted during the "We Support a Healthy Lifestyle!" marathon in Lyskovo.
On July 12, 2025, another stage of the large-scale regional health marathon "We Say ZOJ!" was held in Lyskovo, as part of the national project "Long-lasting and Active Life." Approximately 1,000 residents of the city participated in the event at the Central Park of Culture and Leisure in Lyskovo. The event was organized by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, which closely collaborated with specialists from mobile diagnostic complexes of leading medical institutions in the region: Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N. A. Semashko, City Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Nizhny Novgorod, and the Nizhny Novgorod Center for AIDS Control. The joint efforts of these organizations enabled a broad range of medical services and consultations. The mobile complexes provided diagnostic access to a large number of citizens, especially important for residents of remote areas. Over 500 medical examinations and consultations took place during the marathon. Forty-seven people underwent electrocardiography (ECG) and received qualified advice from experienced cardiologists. The marathon program included a wide array of diagnostic procedures. Eighteen residents had the opportunity to get a chest X-ray—an important method for tuberculosis and respiratory disease prevention. Twelve women underwent mammography for early detection of breast cancer. Twenty-four people took rapid HIV tests. The marathon was supported by specialists from Lyskovo and Sergach district hospitals. Thanks to their participation, nearly 120 residents of Lyskovo had the opportunity to consult with doctors of various specialties: neurologists, endocrinologists, therapists, dermatologists, and pediatricians. This allowed for health assessments and recommendations on disease prevention. Ten residents had the chance to speak with qualified psychologists. Dermatoscopic examinations, which help detect skin neoplasms at early stages, were performed on 27 individuals. More than 210 patients took advantage of the opportunity to measure their anthropometric indicators, blood pressure, intraocular pressure, as well as determine blood sugar and cholesterol levels. "We Say ZOJ!" marathon is not only about diagnostics. An important part was informing citizens about the main principles of a healthy lifestyle. Participants learned about proper nutrition, physical activity, prevention of harmful habits, and other aspects that promote health preservation and longevity. This approach not only helps diagnose existing problems but also provides tools to prevent future illnesses. "The regional 'We Say ZOJ!' marathon is a vivid example of successful cooperation between medical institutions and government agencies aimed at improving the health of residents of Lyskovo and the entire Nizhny Novgorod region. It demonstrates that a comprehensive approach, including preventive measures and accessible diagnostics, is an effective tool in fighting diseases and strengthening population health," said Natalya Savitskaya, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention. It should be reminded that the national project "Long-lasting and Active Life" has been implemented nationwide since 2025 under the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It addresses tasks previously outlined in the "Healthcare" national project. The new national project aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and involves further modernization of clinics, outpatient facilities, feldsher-obstetric points, attracting more qualified medical personnel, applying new approaches to prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical services and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitalizing the industry. The project includes 11 federal initiatives: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Workforce," "Fighting Cardiovascular Diseases," "Fighting Oncology," "Fighting Diabetes," "Hepatitis Prevention and Control," "Improving Emergency Medical Care," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, including National Research Centers," and "National Platform 'Health' and 'Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Recovery.'"
