A resident of Nizhny Novgorod paid for cinema tickets on a scammer's website.

A 41-year-old local resident reported a theft to the duty station of Police Department No. 2 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Dzerzhinsk. According to him, he met a girl on one of the dating websites. During their communication, she suggested meeting up and going to the cinema together. The man agreed, after which the new acquaintance sent him a link to a website supposedly intended for purchasing tickets. Believing the resource to be genuine, the victim entered his bank card details. Soon, an unknown person calling himself a support service employee contacted him and said that the operation was unsuccessful. Under the pretext of fixing a technical error, the man was redirected to various fake sites, resulting in 320,000 rubles being withdrawn from his account. When communication with the interlocutors was cut off, the man realized he had fallen victim to scammers and reported it to the police. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The police are conducting investigative activities aimed at identifying and detaining those involved in the crime. Previously, the Pravda-nn.ru website reported that scammers deceived a woman from Nizhny Novgorod under the guise of receiving a parcel.
