The competition for the online game "World of Tanks" is organized by the "Games Rostelecom" platform, the "United Russia" party, the "Lesta" studio, and the Museum of Victory. More than 230,000 people participated in the online qualifiers. Throughout August, they fought in "Random Battle" mode—each player played for themselves. Ten players with the best results advanced to the finals. Among them are residents of Moscow, Volgograd, Kemerovo, Perm, Pervouralsk, Podolsk, and Horlivka (DPR). The decisive battles will take place on September 6, 2026, in Moscow, at the Museum of Victory on Poklonnaya Hill. The main battles will occur in team mode "Attack/Defense" on the "Battle for Moscow" map. Before the final, a draw will take place to divide the players into two teams of five each. Alexander Sidyakin, head of the Central Executive Committee of "United Russia," coordinator of the federal party project "Historical Memory": "For us, the organizers, cyber tournaments on historical themes are not just competitions for computer game enthusiasts. They are a modern way to talk to young people about history in a language they understand. The online game 'World of Tanks' is a unique bridge between generations. Both children and adults play it. Our task is to show the real chronicle of the events of the Great Patriotic War through the game and interactivity, to pay tribute to our heroes and their feats." Alexander Ryakhovsky, director of the office of prospective and partner products at "Rostelecom": "The cyber tournament 'Battle for Moscow' has become the largest in the history of the online game 'World of Tanks' in terms of the number of registered participants. Such interest confirms the demand for formats where modern technologies serve to preserve historical memory. We thank our partners for their effective cooperation in organizing this significant event. We wish the finalists fair competition, focus, and good luck." Boris Sinitsky, product director of "World of Tanks": "It is especially important for us that the cyber tournament 'Battle for Moscow' has once again united the gaming community. More than 230,000 participants is a sign of enormous interest in the project and confirmation that modern gaming formats can tell history in new ways and engage a wide audience. We will follow the final with great interest."
