A 20-centimeter neoplasm was removed at the N.A. Semashko Regional Clinical Hospital.

Doctors from the 1st gynecological department of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko removed an ovarian neoplasm measuring about 20 cm in diameter using laparoscopic methods — through small incisions. The operation was complicated by the large size of the formation and the patient's accompanying diseases. As reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, an open surgical intervention was initially planned for the woman. The strategy was changed after additional assessment of the examination results: the homogeneous structure of the neoplasm and the low risk of malignancy allowed for a less traumatic approach. To extract the neoplasm from the body, the doctors used a special surgical container. According to Anna Malysheva, a doctor and obstetrician-gynecologist from the 1st gynecological department of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, the entire operation took about 40 minutes. The postoperative period went without complications, and the patient was discharged on the eighth day after the intervention. The Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region emphasized that the development of modern diagnostic and treatment methods, including the use of minimally invasive surgical technologies, remains one of the priorities of hospital work. This work is being carried out as part of the national project "Sustained and Active Life." The 1st gynecological department of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko added that surgeries for neoplasms of this size with the possibility of using minimally invasive access are rare clinical cases. On average, specialists encounter similar situations about once a month. The possibility of performing minimally invasive intervention in each case is determined individually, taking into account the characteristics of the formation, examination results, and the overall condition of the person. A flagship regional project "City of Health" is being implemented at the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko and the NIIKO "NOKOD." At the initiative of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, the construction of new buildings is planned on a unified territory. Both medical organizations will be equipped with modern equipment, and advanced medical assistance technologies are planned to be introduced into the specialists' practice. The national project "Sustained and Active Life" is being implemented by the decision of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and involves the renovation of clinics, outpatient clinics, feldsher-obstetric points, attracting qualified personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitizing the industry.
