11 roads were repaired in 2026 under the "It's Your Choice!" project in Avtozavod.
On September 2, 2026, 15:15 Society11 roads were repaired under the governor's initiative budgeting project "It's up to you!" in the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. According to the district administration, the work was completed on Rzhevskaya, Lugovaya, Katerny, Lysenko, Melitopolskaya, Lyshnova streets, and others.
The head of the Avtozavodsky district administration, Alexander Nagin, and the territorial coordinator of the "It's up to you!" program, Pavel Alexandrov, together with the residents of Nizhny Novgorod, checked the quality of the completed work on the sites. According to the head of the district administration, all the roads that were put in order are located in the private sector, and their repair became possible thanks to the active participation of local residents in the "It's up to you!" project. "The program has become a sought-after mechanism for infrastructure development in the district: since 2021, over 100 projects have been implemented, including road repairs and landscaping of educational institutions. For residents of the private sector, this program has become a key tool for updating the road infrastructure of the private sector. Avtozavod residents demonstrate high civic activity, regularly submitting applications and participating in voting. The administration of Nizhny Novgorod, led by Yuri Shalabaev, calls on citizens to continue to show initiative: for 2027, 17 applications have already been received from residents of the private sector of Avtozavod," said Alexander Nagin, adding that the successful experience of past years proves: when residents themselves determine the direction of development of their yard or street, the responsibility for the preservation of created objects increases, and the quality of life noticeably improves.
During the inspection, the head of the road department of the district administration's beautification management, Evgeny Shalyavin, reported to the inspection commission that the work on the roads was completed in full and on time. "This year we have put in order the road surface on 11 streets with a total area of about 14 thousand square meters. New asphalt has been laid on Rzhevskaya, Lugovaya, Melitopolskaya streets, and other sites selected within the project. In addition, we have additionally filled the roadside with gravel to prevent the edge of the asphalt surface from deteriorating," the specialist reported.
The territorial coordinator of the "It's up to you!" program, Pavel Alexandrov, noted the coordinated work of the district administration, the deputy corps, and the residents. "The 'It's up to you!' project is more than just a budget initiative from our governor. It is a direct bridge between the authorities and the people. Thanks to it, every resident can be heard, and the most important issues—from landscaping to infrastructure development—receive real support and are brought to life," he said, emphasizing that further joint work will continue.
Vladimir Barkin has lived on Lugovaya street since 1975. "50 years ago, houses were heated with coal, and the road was covered with slag—it was all mud. Later, asphalt was laid, but it quickly wore out. We asked for repairs, and thanks to the governor's project, we were heard. Now the road is excellent: children ride their bikes, and pensioners can now freely walk to the store and for walks. We have 24 houses here and a lot of greenery—it's very cozy. I also lead an active lifestyle: I don't sit at home in retirement, I walk 10 kilometers around the district every day. The district has changed radically: modern nine-story buildings have grown in place of old shacks and illegal constructions with street toilets. Life has become much more comfortable," he said.
According to local resident Vera Barkina from Lugovaya street, the locals were eagerly awaiting the new road. "It used to be impossible to walk here—just pits and mud. And now it’s simply beautiful! My grandson now rides his scooter all the time, and other kids are racing on their bikes. For us pensioners, it’s a pleasure to walk to the store and the clinic now," she said.
