Nizhny Novgorod authorities explained the gasoline shortage at some gas stations.

On August 17, 2026, 16:27 Society Fuel shortages at gas stations in the Nizhny Novgorod region are related to a 20% reduction in fuel supplies over the past week at the gas stations of PJSC "Lukoil," as well as logistical difficulties. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Energy and Housing and Utilities in response to residents' complaints on social media. The agency explained that due to the decrease in supplies, some gas stations have started operating with downtime. This, in turn, provoked a surge in demand and led to "cascading" shutdowns of gas stations. To stabilize the situation, volunteers resumed work at key gas stations starting August 13. In addition, the gas stations of the "Gazpromneft" network reintroduced restrictions on the dispensing of gasoline into tanks and specialized containers, which had previously been lifted. Regional authorities stated that they, together with oil companies, are taking all necessary measures to normalize the situation as soon as possible. Motorists were also asked to adhere to the "odd-even" system. According to officials, this will help reduce the load on gas stations and restore their normal operation. It was previously reported that gasoline prices in the Nizhny Novgorod region had increased by 14% over the past six months. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
