More than 500 employers in Nizhny Novgorod provide assistance for childbirth.

      August 18, 2026 15:33 Society The First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova instructed the regions to strengthen their efforts in applying the corporate demographic standard. This became known following a meeting on demographic issues, which was attended by representatives of federal agencies and regions. The Nizhny Novgorod region was represented by Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov. Denis Manturov noted that the decision to have a child largely depends not only on state support but also on working conditions. According to him, employers can assist families by offering payments, flexible schedules, medical support during pregnancy, and other measures. He also reminded that starting this year, employer payments of up to 1 million rubles upon the birth of a child are exempt from personal income tax and insurance contributions, and such expenses can be accounted for when calculating profit tax. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the corporate demographic standard was approved in 2026. As Yegor Polyakov noted, its feature is the presence of a mandatory criterion: the organization must establish payments to employees upon the birth of children. According to him, more than 2,500 families in the region have already received such payments. "This is a mandatory criterion if a company wants to comply with the standard. As our regional experience shows, payments upon the birth of children are one of the most effective and sought-after support measures. Financial assistance upon the birth or adoption of a child is established by more than 500 employers in the region. We expect that the number of such socially responsible companies will grow," Polyakov noted. The regional standard allows employers to choose support measures according to their capabilities. Among them are additional paid days off, voluntary health insurance, payments upon the birth of children, and other measures. The document also outlines recommendations for minimum payment amounts. Following the meeting, the deputy prime ministers instructed ministries, regions, as well as state corporations "Rostec" and "Rosatom" to actively implement the corporate demographic standard and expand support for employees with children. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin, a set of support measures for families is already in place as part of the national project "Family," which has been implemented since 2025 at the request of Vladimir Putin.
