Sobyanin: The development of the Central transport hub will improve the lives of 30 million people.

On August 18, 2026, at 15:33, Politics: The implementation of the railway modernization program in the Central Transport Hub will create a new quality of life for more than 30 million residents of 11 regions of Russia, emphasized a member of the Supreme Council of "United Russia," the Mayor of Moscow, during a tour of the production of modern suburban trains and trams in the Tver engineering cluster. Modern trains produced in Russia operate on Moscow and Moscow region routes. After their introduction into operation on the Moscow Central Diameters in the near suburbs, the number of passengers doubled. "It is important that we are forming a stable order for the factory for the coming years. For the extension of the diameters, we have signed a contract for about 100 additional trains. This includes the Yaroslavl direction, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, and other directions. It is very important that this product is purely Russian, with almost complete localization and at its level—this is a world level for such trains," emphasized Sergey Sobyanin. The Chairman of the All-Russian Passenger Association, Ilya Zotov, commented: "For the residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the appearance of new 'Ivolga' trains will be an important step in improving the quality of service in suburban transport. I hope that after the launch of the large-scale Central Transport Hub project initiated by the Government of Moscow, these trains will be in demand by passengers. In the future, 'Ivolga' trains could transport passengers on key congested routes. For example, the Kstovo - Nizhny Novgorod direction could become one of them. Work is currently underway on this project. Modern trains with climate control, wide doors, through passages, and increased speed—this is the level of service that passengers on the Moscow Central Diameters have already appreciated. We expect that the plans for renewal will be fully implemented and that in the coming years such trains will appear in the Nizhny Novgorod region, making trips for our residents even more convenient." In addition, the capital's tram fleet has been completely updated thanks to the trains produced at the Tver tram factory. They transport about 700,000 passengers daily. Here, another new model of tram—the "Lion Cub"—has also been developed, which operates autonomously. Thanks to it, the capital has managed to connect disparate tram routes. "Of course, all these orders have given a boost to transport engineering, creating a whole line of new machines. Hundreds of enterprises across the country are cooperating. These include factories in Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, and other regions," emphasized a member of the Supreme Council of "United Russia." The manufacturer is already ordering components for a long period, which are being standardized and becoming cheaper. "That is, there are many benefits that both machine builders and operating organizations receive, which is also a very important direction," said Sergey Sobyanin. All this allows for even more comfortable transportation and ensures that trains are put into service exactly on schedule and in compliance with all quality standards. "Today we are building a comfortable and successful Russia with a strong economy and maximally favorable conditions for the future of people. One of the tools for solving these tasks is the improvement of transport infrastructure and the renewal of rolling stock," concluded Sergey Sobyanin. Let us remind you that the modernization of transport infrastructure remains one of the key priorities enshrined in the People's Program. The development of the road network, the renewal of public transport, and the increase in connectivity between regions directly affect the quality of life of citizens, their mobility, and access to social services. Systematic work in this direction is being carried out within the framework of national projects and federal programs, which allows strengthening the economy of the regions, creating jobs, and making trips for millions of passengers more comfortable and safe.
