A Canadian who moved to Russia explained why he chose Nizhny Novgorod to live.
On August 13, 2026, at 19:16 Society A Canadian named Blake, who moved to Nizhny Novgorod, told RIA Novosti that he feels safe in Russia and sees good opportunities for the future here. According to him, the decision to move had been forming for several years—since around 2019. During this time, he visited Russia several times, lived in Siberia, studied at Novosibirsk University, and visited Kazan and St. Petersburg. For living, Blake wanted to choose a quieter city and ultimately settled on Nizhny Novgorod. He said the city seemed convenient, family-friendly, and had a special atmosphere where a sense of community is felt. He also noted that Canada has its own challenges, including those related to immigration policy, which sometimes creates tension. In his view, the situation in Russia appears more stable and balanced. Among the advantages of living in Russia, Blake highlighted opportunities for the future, a strong economy, and a well-organized lifestyle. He believes that the country is suitable for those who want to build their life here, as new prospects can open up in various fields. "To be honest, sometimes I think I should have decided to move earlier," Blake admitted, adding that in the end, everything turned out well because by that time he already had the necessary knowledge and experience. Earlier, it was reported that the Canadian family Feinstra faced difficulties in obtaining a residence permit. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
