180 schools in Nizhny Novgorod will be assigned to military units.

On August 12, 2026, 08:21 Society Starting September 1, students in grades 8-11 at Nizhny Novgorod schools will begin studying a module on basic military training. It will be included in the course "Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland." A total of 34 hours is allocated for mastering the program. The organization of the training was discussed at a working meeting at the Nizhny Novgorod Guards Military Engineering School. Participants included deputies, representatives of military units, and the director of the education department, Irina Boryakova. As part of the preparation for the introduction of the new module, 180 schools in Nizhny Novgorod are planned to be assigned to specific military units. It is also expected to establish closer cooperation between the military and educators, as reported by city council speaker Yevgeny Chintsov on his MAX channel. Special attention will be paid to preparing teachers for conducting classes. In particular, practical training for educators is planned at military units. There is already experience of similar work in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The "Guardsman" center annually organizes five-day camps for tenth-grade students. Starting this year, eighth-graders will also participate in them. It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren will be trained according to a new standard starting September 1.
