A resident of Shakhunya, caught drunk behind the wheel, will be sentenced for drug possession.

      On August 8, 2026, at 13:03, Incidents: In Shakhunya, a 30-year-old man was found guilty of attempting to sell narcotic substances in large quantities and driving a vehicle while intoxicated, the regional court's press service reported.

      In February, traffic police stopped a Mazda without license plates near a house on Komsomolskaya Street. The driver was clearly not in his right mind. An examination showed that he was under the influence of narcotics. It was revealed that he had previously been held accountable for refusing to undergo a medical examination, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified.

      Subsequently, during a search of his residence, nearly 400 grams of N-methylamphetamine were found in his apartment. The man was detained.

      The court established that from January to February 2026, acting as part of a group, he ordered drugs online, packaged them, and prepared them for sale using a contactless method.

      The accused admitted his guilt. The court sentenced him to 10 years in a strict regime colony and prohibited him from driving vehicles for 2 years. The sentence has not yet come into force, the agency clarified.
