In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a drunk driver who was storing drugs has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Shakhunya stopped a 30-year-old driver who was operating a "Mazda" vehicle without state registration plates near a house on Komsomolskaya Street. Additionally, he exhibited clear signs of intoxication. During a medical examination, the man was found to be in a state of intoxication caused by the use of a psychoactive substance. Upon checking, the traffic inspectors established that in April 2025, he had already been held administratively liable under part 1 of Article 12.26 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (failure of the driver of a vehicle to comply with the requirement to undergo a medical examination for intoxication). Subsequently, during a search at the residence of the previously convicted criminal, police discovered and seized a narcotic substance. Operational staff established that the man had ordered wholesale batches of synthetic drugs over the internet, after which he packaged them into single doses for further sale to potential buyers in a contactless manner. The defendant has been convicted. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
