Issues of anti-terrorism security were discussed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On August 7, 2026, at 14:52, Society. On August 6, a joint meeting of the anti-terrorist commission and the operational headquarters took place in the Nizhny Novgorod region, chaired by the first deputy governor Andrey Gneushev. The participants of the meeting discussed issues related to countering terrorist threats at educational institutions, ensuring the security of the unified voting day, the celebration of the Day of the City of Nizhny Novgorod (0+), and developed measures to enhance the effectiveness of the information campaign aimed at explaining to the public the responsibility for committing sabotage and terrorist acts. The event was attended by leaders of law enforcement agencies, the regional prosecutor's office, federal and regional government bodies, local self-government bodies of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Nizhny Novgorod regional electoral commission, educational organizations, and the expert and scientific community. Special attention during the meeting was paid to improving the effectiveness of efforts to prevent the involvement of the population in sabotage and terrorist activities, as well as organizing informational and explanatory events, including those timed to coincide with the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism. "We see that Ukrainian special services and neo-Nazi organizations continue to involve residents of the region in sabotage and terrorist activities, and unfortunately, primarily children and youth. They use absolutely different methods for this: bribery, blackmail, intimidation. Our top priority is to conduct a large-scale informational and explanatory campaign so that people are aware of the methods and ways of recruitment and do not fall for these tricks, as well as to warn them about the inevitability of punishment for committing sabotage and terrorist acts," noted Andrey Gneushev. Examples of the most successful practices for explaining the destructive nature of the ideology of terrorism, the ideas of Ukrainian nationalism and neo-Nazism, as well as the inevitability of punishment for committing sabotage and terrorist acts were presented by Oleg Pikunov, director of the regional Coordination Center for Countering the Ideology of Terrorism and Preventing Extremism at NGLU named after Dobrolyubov, Elena Bazurina, head of the cyber militia of the Volga branch of RGU named after Lebedev, and Vladimir Avramtsev, chairman of the Expert Council for Developing Information Policy in the Field of Countering Terrorism. These projects were developed and implemented in cooperation with the apparatus of the regional anti-terrorist commission, they received a positive response from the target audience, leaders of educational institutions, and were recommended for scaling across the Nizhny Novgorod region. Also, on the eve of the new school year, issues regarding the state of anti-terrorist protection of educational institutions were considered, and additional measures aimed at preventing terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of students and teaching staff were developed. In their reports, the heads of law enforcement agencies, executive bodies, and local self-government in the region noted that to ensure the safety of places where people gather, the anti-terrorist protection of important infrastructure facilities, as well as to repel possible acts of illegal interference, all available forces and resources are maximally engaged. Training sessions will be held with the event organizers and members of the electoral commissions, and instructions will be given on how to act in case of emergencies.
