Children's health is in the spotlight: Moscow and the Nizhny Novgorod region are updating hospitals.

      On August 5, 2026, 12:33 Society Morozov Children's Hospital is one of the largest multidisciplinary clinics for children, undergoing a large-scale renovation. Currently, two buildings are being worked on - the neonatology unit and the expanded neonatal screening center. The building from 1904 will have its historical facade restored, while modern engineering solutions and comfortable spaces will be introduced inside. The second building will receive a new insulated facade, a complete replacement of engineering networks, elevator equipment, and internal systems. "We continue the modernization of Morozov Children's City Hospital. We are creating a modern functional environment that will improve the quality and accessibility of medical care. We have now started a complete renovation of buildings 11 and 22A - the Center for Expanded Neonatal Screening and the Neonatology Department," wrote Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin on his social media page. Every year, children from 89 regions of the country receive help at the hospital - a total of more than 10,000 patients from various subjects, including the Nizhny Novgorod region. This confirms that the development of Moscow clinics directly concerns residents of all regions.

      As in the capital, special attention is paid to children's healthcare issues in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Large projects for the renovation and construction of medical institutions are also underway here. In the regional children's clinical hospital, as part of the "Health Quarter" project, a building for patients with infections has been completely renovated. The two-story building is designed for 35 beds, with 17 isolated wards equipped. Two boxes of the Melzer type have air filtration systems and staff access locks, completely eliminating the risk of cross-contamination. The overall territory of the hospital and the cardio center has been combined into a single medical cluster. Thanks to the redistribution of areas, more than a thousand square meters have been freed up for medical needs. A consulting and diagnostic center and a building for MRI studies have already opened. By the end of the month, the pathology department and the food block will also begin operations. Over three years, 3.2 billion rubles have been invested in the modernization of the hospital, including more than a quarter of a billion in the new building. "The development of children's healthcare is a systemic task. We are not only putting existing buildings in order but also creating fundamentally new conditions for the treatment and stay of young patients. A new building is being prepared for opening at the NODKB, which will house a boxed pediatric department, where the conditions for medical care meet the strictest standards of infection safety: isolated boxes, individual entrances, air filtration - everything to protect children with weakened immune systems. Here, young patients with difficult-to-diagnose diseases, including fever of unknown origin, will be accepted. At the same time, we continue to work in the region to ensure that quality care is available to every family - regardless of whether they live in the regional center or in a remote village. For us, this is a direct implementation of the requests of residents included in the People's Program," noted the chief physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 29, Hero of Labor of Russia, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region (United Russia faction) Yulia Garevskaya.

      The modernization of children's healthcare in the Nizhny Novgorod region is being carried out as part of the People's Program, formed based on more than 200,000 proposals from residents of the region. Since 2021, 128 new healthcare facilities have been introduced in the region, including 118 FAPs in rural areas, 9 general practitioner offices, and a new children's clinic in Kstovo with a capacity of 500 visits per shift. Active work is currently underway on a new version of the People's Program - residents are making proposals for the construction of children's clinics in rapidly growing neighborhoods and the development of a digital healthcare system. It should be noted that the key task of the People's Program is to provide modern, effective, and accessible medical care for every citizen of Russia. Among the priority tasks are the renovation of clinics and hospitals, the development of assistance for children and patients with rare diseases, as well as improving the conditions for families in hospitals.
