      Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region are invited to participate in the user video contest "Father of the Year." This is an opportunity not only to receive an honorary title but also valuable gifts for the whole family. This year, the contest is held for the second time with the support of the national project "Family." Last season, more than 980 family teams participated, and over 25,000 Russians joined the public voting. Seven partners of the contest awarded more than 30 fathers in special nominations. In 2026, the competition will be held in three nominations. Within the "Viewer's Choice" nomination, public voting will take place. All videos submitted to the contest will participate. The main prize for the winner will be the opportunity to relax in one of the hotels in Sochi with their family. The second nomination, "Hyperdad," is for large and multitasking fathers. The best "hyperdad" will receive household appliances as a gift. The final nomination, "Chef Dad," will interest those who love to cook. The winner will receive a set of kitchen utensils as a gift. To participate in the "Father of the Year - 2026" contest, it is necessary to shoot or select a video from the family archive lasting up to two minutes, where fathers spend time with their children: playing, teaching, engaging in the hobbies of their daughters and sons, exploring new things together. Then, the video should be published on a personal page on the social network "VKontakte," with the hashtag #fatheroftheyear2026 and fill out a questionnaire in the contest community. You can join the contest until September 13. From September 24 to October 5, the works will be evaluated by experts, as well as within the framework of public voting. On October 13, a meeting of the "children's jury" will take place, and the winner will be chosen. The names of the award winners will be announced on October 18 - Father's Day.

      Let us remind you that today, families with children in the country have access to a wide range of support measures. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, as part of the regional Five-Year Family Plan (from 2025 to 2030), a program called "Foundation - Nizhny Novgorod Life Project" has been developed. It is being implemented by order of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin.

      Since July 2025, Nizhny Novgorod families receive up to 1 million rubles for the birth or adoption of children, taking into account the federal maternity capital and the parental basic income "Foundation." Parents can also receive a "Gift for the Newborn" from the governor in the form of an electronic certificate worth 20,000 rubles for purchasing children's goods from local manufacturers on one of the marketplaces.

      In addition, expectant mothers and families with children can take advantage of free consultations with specialized experts, including psychologists, lawyers, and social work specialists, by contacting the hotline or the chatbot "Save.rf." The Regional Institute of Demographic Development also offers useful digital products to Nizhny Novgorod residents. For example, the "Social Support Measures Calculator" calculates available measures and benefits based on the family's individual parameters. In the "Life Situations" section, one can obtain a clear action algorithm for solving various everyday issues. The mini-application "Wow, Parents!" accompanies expectant mothers from the first week of pregnancy until the birth of the child, and then helps couples preserve pleasant memories in current formats. The "Family Navigator" simplifies the search for children's and sports grounds in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Couples wishing to become parents also have access to additional quotas for the IVF procedure.

      The national project "Family" includes activities that promote the comprehensive development of families: expanding support measures, creating conditions for active longevity of the older generation, and ensuring quality and accessible medical care. National projects are being implemented in the country by order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
