Utility workers in the hilly part of Nizhny Novgorod were fined nearly 20 million rubles.

July 31, 2026 19:20 Society Utility organizations operating in the elevated part of Nizhny Novgorod have been fined nearly 20 million rubles since the beginning of 2026 for improper maintenance of apartment buildings and adjacent territories, as required by the State Housing Inspection of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Since the beginning of the year, the Nizhny Novgorod mountain inspection department has received almost 15,500 complaints from owners of apartment buildings who reported unsatisfactory work by management and resource supply organizations. As a result of inspections, utility companies were issued 174 orders and 1,318 warnings. One example was the inspection of compliance with an order regarding a building on Pushkin Street in the Soviet district. At the request of the State Housing Inspection, the management company brought the foundation and adjacent territory into compliance by repairing about 300 square meters of asphalt pavement. As explained by the State Housing Inspection, in the spring, residents of the building complained about the inaction of the management company. The owners requested assistance in repairing the damaged foundation, as well as restoring the roadway and sidewalk. Despite the fact that the residents voted for the work to be carried out, the management company did not provide timelines for their completion. The head of the Nizhny Novgorod mountain department of the State Housing Inspection, Maxim Kartunov, reported that at the time of the inspection, the physical wear of the roadway, sidewalk, and foundation exceeded 80%, and a warning was issued to the management organization. "As of today, the work has been completed. The contractor of the management organization has asphalted the sidewalk and roadway, replaced the curb stone, and fully restored the foundation. All work was completed in July," he noted. The State Housing Inspection reminded that one can contact the agency through the "Gosuslugi. Home" application and portal, as well as in person by presenting an identity document. In addition, a hotline is available at 8 (831) 430-79-19. It was previously reported that fines may be introduced in Nizhny Novgorod for electric scooters left outside designated areas. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
