Two people who jumped into the Volga were rescued in three hours in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On August 1, 2026, at 09:39, Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, rescuers were called out twice to assist people who found themselves in the Volga River during the night of August 1. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The first report of the incident came in around two o'clock in the morning. According to eyewitnesses, a 20-year-old girl jumped off a concrete parapet into the water. She was rescued by the crew of the "Master 500" boat from the 1st fire and rescue squad, along with rescuers from the Volga regional search and rescue squad and the crew of the "Vyun" boat. After that, the girl was handed over to an ambulance team. About three hours later, near the "Hero" boat, a 23-year-old man jumped into the water from the parapet. He was also retrieved from the Volga by rescuers on the boat and then handed over to law enforcement officers. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds everyone of the need to follow safety rules on the water: do not swim while intoxicated, do not enter the water in unfamiliar places, and only relax on equipped beaches.
