A Nizhny Novgorod resident was convicted for attacking a bus driver in Zavolzhye.

      On July 27, 2026, at 16:15, Incidents The Gorodets City Court sentenced a local resident for attacking a bus driver in Zavolzhye. This was reported by the press service of the regional court.

      The incident occurred on the evening of January 10 at the final stop of route bus No. 101, which was coming from Gorodets to Zavolzhye. The man asked the driver to open the doors, but after being refused, he grabbed him by the jacket and pulled him out of the cabin. The driver fell, hit his head on the ice, and sustained serious injuries.

      Initially, the actions of the defendant were classified as intentional infliction of serious harm to health, dangerous to life, committed out of hooligan motives (paragraph "d" of part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). However, during the proceedings, the court requalified the case. As a result, he was found guilty of causing serious harm to health through negligence (part 1 of article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

      Taking into account all the circumstances, the man was sentenced to two years of restriction of freedom. In addition, the court ordered the guilty party to pay the injured driver compensation for moral damage in the amount of 100,000 rubles.

      In the courtroom, the defendant was released from custody. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
