A family of farmers from the Nizhny Novgorod region has been recognized as the best in Russia.

      On July 27, 2026, at 18:17, the family of Prokhorovs from the Vorotynsky municipal district became the winners of the All-Russian contest "Family of the Year - 2026". Alexander Pavlovich and Olga Viktorovna Prokhorov took first place in the "Rural Family" nomination, as reported by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The contest is organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia in collaboration with the Fund for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations, as part of the national project "Family". Its goal is to promote family values, strengthen the prestige of family, motherhood, and fatherhood, as well as preserve the best family traditions.

      Previously, the Prokhorovs won the regional contest "Nizhny Novgorod Family" in the same nomination.

      The couple has been living and working in the village of Fokino in the Vorotynsky district for 30 years. From the early years of their life together, they have been engaged in agriculture, created their own farm, and raised three children. Now the family helps raise three grandchildren.

      Alexander Prokhorov heads the farm, is involved in the production and processing of dairy products, participates in the public life of the district, and supports humanitarian initiatives, including providing assistance to participants in the special military operation. Olga Prokhorova worked as a pharmacist for many years and today helps develop the family farm.

      Over the years of their life together, the couple has lost their home twice due to fires and each time started all over again. According to the family, mutual support, hard work, and help from fellow villagers helped them overcome difficulties.

      "For us, this victory is a great honor and immense joy. But our main reward is our family, children, and grandchildren. Each time we faced difficulties, love, support for each other, and faith that together we can overcome any trials helped us," noted the Prokhorov couple. They added that they hope to pass on to their children and grandchildren a love for their native land, hard work, and family values.

      The Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Igor Sedykh, congratulated the family on their victory, noting that the Prokhorovs are an example of a strong family that knows how to love, work, support each other, and not give up.

      The All-Russian contest "Family of the Year" took place for the eleventh time in 2026. Over the years, more than 50,000 families have participated, and this year the contest brought together over 11,800 families from all 89 regions of Russia.
