A teenager and seven adults drowned in the Nizhny Novgorod region over the week.

      July 27, 2026 11:25 Incidents Over the past week, nine water-related incidents have been recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result, eight people have died, including a minor. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations. In particular, on July 21, two people drowned at once. One body was retrieved from Lake Mikheevo, and the other from the Kerzhenets River in the Lyskovsky district. Two more incidents were registered on July 26 at water bodies in Nizhny Novgorod. One drowned person was pulled from Silikatnoye Lake in the Leninsky district, and the second from Parkovoye Lake in Sormovo. Also, last week, a 15-year-old teenager drowned in Vetluga.
