A portal "Adaptive Sports Map" has been launched in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the information portal "Adaptive Sports Map" has started operating. The digital platform has been created to provide structured information about the opportunities for engaging in adaptive sports in the region and aligns with the objectives of the state program "Sports of Russia." On the portal https://adaptive-sport-nn.ru, there is an "Adaptive Catalog" with contacts of sports organizations, photos of institutions, and the ability to apply for free classes. Currently, the catalog features 35 organizations from Nizhny Novgorod and 16 municipalities in the region, with plans to expand the list. The "Opportunities Map" section contains information about state and municipal sports institutions that provide facilities for people with disabilities free of charge. The "Media" section publishes video materials, while the "Athletes" section features stories and achievements of Nizhny Novgorod para-athletes. In the near future, the website will include a calendar of competitions in adaptive sports, a "Sports for Our Own" section for veterans of combat operations, participants of the special military operation, and their family members, as well as a library of home video workouts. As noted by the Minister of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Dmitry Kabailo, the service is designed to simplify the search for sections and registration for classes for people with disabilities and participants of the special military operation. The portal integrates the "SIGNED" program, which uses artificial intelligence technologies to translate information into Russian sign language. In the future, the resource is planned to be adapted for visually impaired users. The portal was developed by specialists from the methodological resource center RCAWS "Parus" with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The creators invite organizations working in the field of adaptive sports to contribute to the website through a feedback form. According to data from 2026, more than 40,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod with disabilities and over 2,000 veterans of combat operations and participants of the special military operation regularly engage in physical culture and sports. More than 40 official sports events for people with disabilities are held annually in the region, and 51 athletes are part of the Russian national team in adaptive sports. There are five accredited federations developing sports for the deaf, blind sports, sports for people with disabilities, football for individuals with cerebral palsy, and sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The key training facility is the regional center for the development of adaptive sports "Parus" in Dzerzhinsk. The complex has a capacity of 800 athletes per hour, including 250 wheelchair athletes. The center coordinates the development of adaptive sports in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
