A new rehabilitation program for children with disabilities has been launched in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On July 21, 2026, at 11:33 AM, Society A new comprehensive rehabilitation program for children with disabilities has started in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This year, 25 children have already been sent for recovery under the pilot project. This was reported by the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia (SFR). Participants in the project can be children aged 4 to 17 who have been assigned the category of "disabled child" for the first time. The course lasts for 21 days. It is fully funded by the Social Fund with the help of an electronic certificate. The funds are allocated not only for treatment and activities but also for the accommodation and meals of the child and the accompanying person. The decision on the necessity of rehabilitation is made by the bureau of medical and social expertise. Specialists determine the appropriate program and explain to parents which certified organization they can contact. The certificate is issued automatically—without a personal visit to the SFR. It is issued to the "Mir" card of the legal representative based on the data from the medical and social expertise. It must be used within a year from the date of disability establishment. Currently, 240 certificates have been activated. Compensation for travel to and from the rehabilitation location can also be obtained, or free train travel can be arranged. To do this, an application must be submitted within 10 working days after the course ends. Compensation can be claimed no more than twice. Eight organizations are participating in the project—six in the Nizhny Novgorod region and two federal ones. Consultation can be obtained by calling the unified contact center at 8 (800) 100-00-01.
