A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region attempted to burn his wife alive.

      On July 20, 2026, at 17:40, Incidents: A quarrel between spouses in the working settlement of Lukino nearly ended in murder, reported the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the investigation, during the conflict, the man doused his wife and the room with a flammable liquid and intended to set her on fire using a lighter. Fortunately, acquaintances present in the house prevented him from carrying out his plan. A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of article 30, subparagraphs "d" and "e" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - attempted murder committed with particular cruelty and in a dangerous manner. The suspect has been detained. He is expected to be charged soon and a preventive measure will be chosen.
