African swine fever has been detected in the Koverninsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
On July 20, 2026, at 18:23, Society In the Koverninsky district, a quarantine has been established due to African swine fever. The corresponding decree from the governor has been published on the official portal of legal acts. Restrictions have been in effect since July 10 in the hunting grounds of the Nizhny Novgorod regional public organization "Society of Hunters and Fishermen 'Geolog'." The infected areas include the territory of quarter 109 of the mentioned hunting grounds, as well as a refrigeration chamber in the village of Kuprino, house 13. In these areas, products from the slaughter of pigs and wild boars, as well as products derived from them, for which the ASF diagnosis has been confirmed, must be destroyed. Measures defined by veterinary regulations are also planned. The regional veterinary committee has been tasked with developing and approving a plan for the elimination of the outbreak and preventing the spread of the virus in the district.
