A monument to the legendary hockey player Konovalenko will be erected in Nizhny Novgorod.
The Committee for the Commemoration of Outstanding Personalities and Historical Events in Nizhny Novgorod supported the initiative to install a bust of the Hero of Socialist Labor, head of the "Gorky-Freight" station Ivan Makarov. The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the City Duma, Evgeny Chintsov.
The bust is planned to be installed in the square next to the "Soldier-Railroad Worker" monument in the Sortirovochny microdistrict of the Kanavinsky district. The management of the Gorky Railway, the trade union organization, and the Veterans Council presented the committee members with a sketch of the future monument.
In addition, the committee approved the proposal from the team at the "Krasny Yakor" factory to relocate the monument to fallen soldiers, which is currently on the company's balance sheet. The need for relocation is related to the transfer of ownership rights to the land plot. According to the presented project, the monument will be placed in a scenic area next to the central checkpoint of the factory on Moscow Highway, and the adjacent territory will also be improved.
The petition from the management company "GAZ Group" to commemorate the legendary goalkeeper of the USSR national team and Gorky's "Torpedo," two-time Olympic champion, eight-time world champion, seven-time European champion, and Honorary Citizen of Nizhny Novgorod Region Viktor Konovalenko also received a positive conclusion. After preparing the sketch, the committee will determine a possible location for the installation of the monument. It is known that the author of the monument will be sculptor Alexey Shchitov.
The committee members also supported the initiative to commemorate the graduate of school No. 138 in the Lenin district, Dmitry Khrulev, who died in the Special Military Operation.
Following the meeting, Evgeny Chintsov reported that the committee recommended bringing to the City Duma for consideration the issues of installing a bust of Ivan Makarov and a memorial plaque for Dmitry Khrulev on the facade of the school he attended by Railway Day.
"We were also satisfied with the new proposed design by the 'Krasny Yakor' factory for the space around the relocated monument to fallen soldiers," noted Chintsov.
Recall that in early July, Evgeny Chintsov participated in the opening of a monument to pilot Alexander Molev. A month earlier, he attended the opening of a monument to RAS academician Andrey Gaponov-Grekhov. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
