      Nizhny Novgorod motorists who faced car breakdowns after refueling with low-quality gasoline can claim compensation for incurred expenses. It is important to immediately gather the necessary evidence and properly prepare the documents. This was reported by RIA "Bokal pressika."

      Specialists warn that the consequences of using low-quality fuel may manifest immediately or after several hundred kilometers. If fuel of lower quality than the declared octane number gets into the tank, prolonged detonation can lead to serious engine damage – up to the destruction of pistons and valves.

      To protect their rights, drivers are advised to keep the cash receipt or proof of payment, as well as photograph the dashboard with the mileage and malfunction indicator. After that, the car should be delivered to a service center where specialists will officially take fuel samples and prepare the corresponding act. If an independent examination confirms that the gasoline does not meet GOST requirements, the car owner has the right to send a claim to the gas station. In it, one can demand reimbursement for the cost of fuel, repairs, towing services, and the examination itself. If the gas station refuses to voluntarily compensate for the damage, expenses and the legally prescribed fine can be recovered through the court.
