Nizhny Novgorod HC "Start" may move to the Higher League due to financial problems.
The Nizhny Novgorod bandy club "Start" may leave the Super League and continue its performances in the Higher League. This is reported by the newspaper "Football-Hockey NN" citing its own sources.
The club's financial difficulties were mentioned back in June by the first vice-president of the Russian Bandy Federation, Evgeny Ivanushkin. According to him, the club was then addressing the issue of participation in the Russian championship.
Now the club has made the decision to downgrade due to a difficult financial situation.
As the publication writes, by 2026, the hockey club has already faced six lawsuits totaling 19 million rubles. In addition, "Start" has other debts.
At the same time, according to the newspaper, the club received budget funding in full, but the management was unable to attract additional sources of funds.
The club has not officially confirmed this information yet. However, an announcement may be made on July 13, when the team gathers for its first training session.
Recall that at the end of the concluded season, the Nizhny Novgorod team took eighth place in the standings.
Earlier, HC "Torpedo" announced when the club would move to the new "Volga Arena". NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
