      The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has taken control of the situation regarding the non-resettlement of residents from an emergency building in the village of Oktyabrsky in the Bor district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia on July 9, 2026. Residents of the apartment building on Komsomolskaya Street reached out to Bastrykin due to the prolonged non-resettlement. The building, constructed in 1961, is in an uninhabitable condition due to deteriorating structures. In 2018, the building was recognized as emergency due to a high degree of physical wear, yet to this day, no improved housing has been provided to the citizens in exchange. The resettlement deadlines have allegedly been constantly postponed, with the last shift moving them to 2027-2028. Appeals from citizens to various authorities have yielded no results. The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region has organized a procedural check. Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on the progress of the procedural check, the decisions made as a result, and the ongoing work to implement the rights of residents of the emergency building to improved housing. The execution of the instruction has been put under control in the central office of the agency.
