      A veteran of the special military operation with the call sign "Bashkir" returned from the zone of the special military operation to the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2024. On the front lines of the special operation, he participated multiple times in large-scale offensives against enemy positions in the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia region, alongside his combat comrades. For successfully completing his tasks, he was awarded the Order of Courage, the Order of Saint George, and the Medal for Combat Merits. "The awards are truly valuable to me and will always remind me that I honestly fulfilled my duty to my homeland. Even during my conscription service, I learned to operate a tank, knew all its characteristics and features, and learned to shoot from weapons. During the special operation, I continued to fight using this equipment and armament. We worked closely with the infantry. We went out to open firing positions, shot with direct fire, and destroyed enemy strongholds," he said. According to the tank driver, the battles in populated areas were particularly difficult, where the enemy used civilians as human shields. "The most disgusting memory is how the enemy hid behind civilians, how they occupied residential sectors and locked people in basements. The Nazis fight dirty – against their own people. They shoot at medical 'bukhankas' with the wounded; this is unworthy of a human being," said the special operation participant. During one of the offensives, the tank crew came under heavy artillery fire from the enemy. "Bashkir" sustained serious injuries but returned to the front lines after treatment. The command offered him the position of tank commander. However, the consequences of his injury made themselves known, and he was forced to complete his participation in the special operation. But the veteran's desire to serve his homeland did not leave him; he enrolled in a military school. He is confident that the knowledge and combat experience he gained will be useful to the country.

      Let us remind you that starting from June 15, 2026, the amount of the one-time payment to volunteers of the special military operation, provided they sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia in Nizhny Novgorod, has been increased to 3.2 million rubles. The monthly monetary allowance is from 210,000 rubles. Additionally, for military personnel of the UAV troops, extra payments for combat merits and for the destruction of enemy weapons and equipment have been established – up to 500,000 rubles. Those who sign military contracts are issued certificates for the provision of land plots in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      A mechanism for concluding military social contracts is also in place in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which additionally guarantees the family of the contractor 10,000 rubles per month for each child, benefits for utility payments, preschool services, and other types of support. Furthermore, individual support for the family of the serviceman is provided.

      The dispatch of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to their places of service is ensured by the coordination center for supporting servicemen, mobilized individuals, and their families, operating on the basis of the House of National Unity. At the same time, the region continues to actively support servicemen by sending humanitarian aid to the zone of the special military operation.
