"Odd-Even": the operating hours of gas stations are changing in the Nizhny Novgorod region

On July 9, 2026, at 11:48 AM, the economy will change the order of service at network gas stations in the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the decision of the regional operational headquarters, cars will be refueled depending on the first digit of the state number. Fuel sales on even and odd days will apply at all network gas stations, except for those on the federal highway M-12.

On even dates, vehicles with state numbers starting with an even digit—0, 2, 4, 6, or 8—will be able to refuel. On odd dates, cars with numbers starting with 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 will be serviced. For example, a car with a number starting with the digit 9 will be able to refuel on July 9, 11, 13, and other odd dates. A car with a number starting with the digit 4 will be able to refuel on July 10, 12, 14, and other even dates.

As explained by the press service of the regional government, this new measure is being introduced to reduce queues at gas stations. The rule applies to both gasoline and diesel fuel.

The new order will be in effect at all gas stations of the "Lukoil," "Gazpromneft," and "Tatneft" networks, except for those located on the M-12 highway. However, the restrictions do not apply to transit transport, as well as to life support services and emergency response. This includes ambulances, law enforcement vehicles, fire protection, municipal equipment, defense industry enterprises, transport providing food and essential goods delivery, as well as equipment for the removal of solid municipal waste.

The existing fuel dispensing limits remain in place. At "Lukoil" gas stations, gasoline is dispensed up to 40 liters, at "Gazpromneft" and "Tatneft" gas stations—up to 30 liters. For diesel fuel, the limit is set at 60 liters in the city and 200 liters on highways.

Authorities also reported that an interactive map will be launched for drivers with information about fuel availability and queues at gas stations. It will be filled by volunteers who will start working at 60 main gas stations in Nizhny Novgorod. They will also explain the new service order to motorists and help regulate traffic flows.
