Nizhny Novgorod residents were told whether it is possible to get a refund for a ticket to a missed concert.

      July 5, 2026 12:50 Society Situations where you buy a ticket in advance for a concert of your favorite artist, but your plans suddenly change the day before, are not uncommon. The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) explained whether it is possible to return a ticket if personal circumstances arise that prevent you from attending the event. The agency clarified that you can refuse to attend the event at any time (Article 52.1 of the Basic Law of the Russian Federation on Culture and Article 32 of the Consumer Rights Protection Law). However, the conditions for returning the ticket depend on the time remaining until the concert and the reason for the refusal. How much money will be refunded?

       No later than 10 days before the event - 100% of the ticket price.

       Less than 10 days but no later than 5 days - at least 50%.

       Less than 5 days but no later than 3 days - at least 30%.

       Less than 3 days before the event - the organizer may not refund the ticket price.

       However, these rules do not apply if the refusal is due to force majeure circumstances.

      In what cases will the full ticket price be refunded? A full refund is possible in case of forced refusal due to the visitor's illness or due to the death of a family member or close relative. To process the refund, the following documents must be provided:

      • Passport or another identity document.

      • Ticket (paper or electronic).

      • Document confirming payment (receipt, bank statement, or electronic equivalent).

      In case of forced return, you must additionally attach:

      • Medical documents (sick leave or certificate).

      • Death documents and proof of kinship.

      The application is considered within 10 days from the moment of submission. The refund is made within 10 days after the decision is made. Notification of the decision is sent within 3-5 days. If your request for a ticket refund is denied, you have the right to:

      • Request a written notification stating the reasons for the refusal (paragraphs 11, 31, 44 of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1491).

      • Send a written complaint to the organizer.

      • Appeal to the court (Article 17 of Law No. 2300-1).

      • Contact the territorial body of Rospotrebnadzor for clarification and protection of your rights.

      Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that to process the refund, the ticket must be valid and issued according to all rules. You will only be refunded the amount within the price stated on the ticket, and service fees from intermediaries are unlikely to be compensated.
