200 young residents of Nizhny Novgorod were sent home early from the camp: what happened

      On July 4, 2026, at 14:27, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, short-term ecological educational camps were prematurely concluded, which were held at the base of the Perevoz Construction College camp. A total of 200 children were sent home early. The reason was emergency restoration work on a section of the hot water supply pipeline right on the territory where the camps were held. Because of this, it became impossible to continue the program under normal conditions and with compliance with all safety requirements. The situation was commented on by the Minister of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Mikhail Puchkov.

      "I am keeping the situation with the premature conclusion of the short-term specialized ecological educational camps at the base of the Perevoz Construction College camp under special control," he said.

      According to him, on the last day, several participants felt unwell. Five children were examined by a doctor, and now they are all home.

      "At the moment, all the children are with their parents, there are no children in the hospital. Possible causes of the malaise are being established, a full check is being conducted," the minister added.

      He specified that the test results of the cafeteria staff for infections are already ready - they are negative, and no violations were found. They are also checking the products delivered to the camp, their quality, and documents. They are separately looking at the living conditions, the state of the premises, and the sanitary measures that were carried out before the shift, including deratization.
