The general contractor has begun work on the reconstruction of the second phase of the Nizhny Novgorod aeration station.

      The contracting organization LLC "SoyuzDonStroy," with which JSC "Unified Utility Operator" signed a contract on May 12 of this year, has begun work on the dismantling of the tank structures of the second phase of the NSA. Recall that earlier, employees of JSC "OKO" prepared the first facilities for repair and have already decommissioned 27 structures. During the reconstruction, the engineering structures of the second technological phase will be taken out of operation in stages to preserve the biological treatment of wastewater. Currently, there are three units of equipment and 28 employees of the contracting organization on site. Starting next week, according to the work schedule, LLC "SoyuzDonStroy" plans to increase the number of working personnel. Specialists have already begun dismantling the metal structures of two secondary clarifiers. In total, JSC "OKO" will transfer 60 structures for reconstruction, including seven aeration tanks, six secondary clarifiers, four primary clarifiers, as well as the construction of two ultraviolet disinfection stations. Upon completion of the second phase, the technology for processing sludge will be completely changed, which will include two-stage dewatering and thermal drying. This will allow moving away from the outdated technology of placing sludge on special drying sites and subsequent disposal at the landfill. After the reconstruction of the treatment facilities is completed, it is planned to gradually reclaim the existing sludge maps and landfill.

      For reference: The Nizhny Novgorod aeration station is the largest wastewater treatment facility in the Nizhny Novgorod region, with an average daily inflow of more than 500 thousand cubic meters. For the first time since the station was built in 1974, a large-scale modernization is being carried out. The work started in 2022, is divided into phases, and is conducted without stopping the acceptance of wastewater. The first phase of reconstruction, which included 50 structures, will be completed in 2025. "SoyuzDonStroy" is a full-cycle construction company operating since 2007.
