Nizhny Novgorod residents have been warned about the high fire hazard in the forests.

      On June 30, 2026, at 19:23 Society From June 30 to July 6, 2026, a fourth, high class of fire danger for forests and peat bogs is expected in Nizhny Novgorod and its surroundings. This forecast was published by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Upper Volga Hydrometeorological Center." During this period, a ban on visiting forests will be in effect. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has urged residents to follow fire safety rules and be especially cautious. Due to the high risk of fires, rescuers recommend not engaging in any activities that could lead to a fire. In particular, it is prohibited to burn garbage and dry vegetation on household and garden plots, as well as to light bonfires in the forests. It is also forbidden to throw unextinguished cigarettes, matches, and hot ash into the grass. It is dangerous to leave rags soaked in gasoline, oil, or other flammable liquids in the forest. Additionally, glass bottles and shards in the sun can act as lenses and become a fire hazard. Currently, a tense fire hazard situation persists in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The third (medium) class of danger is fully in effect in the forests of 17 municipalities and partially in nine other districts.
