Three more players from Nizhny Novgorod's HC Torpedo were selected in the NHL draft.
The NHL Draft took place on June 26 and 27 in the USA at the "Buffalo Sabres" arena - "KeyBank Center". League clubs drafted three more players from the Nizhny Novgorod "Torpedo" system. On the second day, goalkeeper Yegor Ryabkin was selected - drafted by the "Los Angeles Kings" under number 89. This choice was unexpected for many: last season, the hockey player played 11 games in the MHL regular season for the "Chaika" team and did not play at the adult level. Forward Viktor Fedorov was selected under number 99 - drafted by the "Seattle Kraken". Under number 173, the "New York Islanders" picked forward Artem Matyuk, who also played for "Chaika". It is worth noting that on the first day, "Montreal" drafted "Torpedo" player Gleb Pugachev under number 26. In the 2025/2026 season, the forward played in the MHL for "Chaika". Additionally, he played 15 games in the VHL for "Torpedo-Gorky" and participated in 13 KHL matches with the main team of "Torpedo". As representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod club emphasized, in terms of the number of drafted hockey players, "Torpedo" became the most representative club in the country at this year's draft. A total of 223 players were selected over seven rounds of the NHL Draft, of which 25 are representatives of Russia. Earlier, we reported that HC "Torpedo" conducted a three-way trade with "Avtomobilist" and Moscow's "Dynamo". NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
