The demographic standard for business has been approved in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

On June 27, 2026, at 14:15, the Corporate Demographic Standard was approved in the region following the meeting of the tripartite commission on social-labor relations. This was reported by the press service of the regional government. The document was signed on June 26, 2026, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod region by representatives of the regional government, the association of industrialists, business unions, and trade unions.

At the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin, a set of measures to support families is already being implemented in the region. This work aligns with the objectives of the national project "Family," which has been active in Russia since 2025 at the direction of Vladimir Putin. The head of the region has repeatedly emphasized the importance of business participation in family policy.

Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yegor Polyakov, explained that the regional corporate demographic standard specifies the provisions of the federal document but does not replace it. "We focus on the most in-demand support measures specifically in our region," he noted. According to him, the goal is to create an ecosystem where the birth of a child does not become an obstacle to career growth, and corporate culture naturally supports family values.

He also pointed out that an important feature of the standard is a mandatory criterion: for a corporate program to be recognized as meeting the requirements, the organization must provide payments to employees upon the birth of children. The standard aims to create conditions at enterprises that allow residents of the region to combine professional activities and family responsibilities.

The flexible model gives employers the opportunity to adapt the provisions of the document to their resources. Support measures are distributed based on economic accessibility. Among the basic measures are additional paid days off. More costly measures include payment for voluntary health insurance, direct payments upon the birth of a child, and other forms of support.

The document also contains recommendations on minimum payment amounts and other measures. The Minister of Demography and Human Capital Development of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Igor Pantyukhin, noted that organizations in the region have already accumulated significant experience in supporting parents. "For example, the most popular measure—one-time assistance upon the birth of a child—operates in more than 500 organizations," he said.

Congratulations to employees on family events and flexible schedules for workers with children are also applied. The new standard will allow for the systematization and expansion of best practices. In the future, it is planned to implement a scoring assessment of corporate programs of companies that have joined the standard, as well as to form a ranking of the best enterprises in the region.

The Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Igor Sedykh, emphasized that the demographic situation is directly related to how comfortable families feel making decisions about having children and how confidently parents feel combining work and family responsibilities. "Today, our task is to create a comprehensive support system in which families receive assistance not only through state measures but also through the socially responsible attitude of employers," Sedykh noted.

According to him, the corporate demographic standard will become an additional tool for forming a family-oriented environment, help reduce the burden on parents, strengthen family stability, and create conditions for increasing birth rates. Support for responsible enterprises aligns with the objectives of the national project "Personnel," which has been implemented in Russia since 2025 at the direction of President Vladimir Putin. It includes four federal projects: "Labor Market Management," "Active Employment Support Measures," "Education for the Labor Market," and "Labor Person."

Earlier, it was reported that Governor Gleb Nikitin discussed demographics and youth support with Patriarch Kirill. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
