Residents of Nizhny Novgorod have started to get revaccinated against diphtheria and tetanus more frequently.

This was reported by the representative of the healthcare sector in the region, Alexey Nikонов, citing data from Rospotrebnadzor on the number of vaccinated Russians. With stable primary vaccination rates, residents of Nizhny Novgorod have become more active in "updating their immunity." In 2025, more than 273.9 thousand people underwent revaccination against diphtheria, which is more than the previous year—259.7 thousand. About 85 thousand of them are children. A comparable level is maintained for tetanus revaccination: last year, over 273 thousand residents of the region received a booster shot. The vaccination rates against tuberculosis remain consistently high. This year, 24.2 thousand people were vaccinated, with the majority being newborns—17.9 thousand. At the same time, a decrease in coverage is noted for a number of infections. For instance, the number of vaccinated against whooping cough decreased both in primary vaccination—from 21.2 thousand to 20.6 thousand—and in revaccination—from 23.4 thousand to 22.2 thousand. A decrease was also recorded for measles: in 2025, 21.9 thousand people underwent primary vaccination compared to 26.8 thousand the previous year, and 37.8 thousand for revaccination compared to 44.1 thousand.
