Nizhny Novgorod region will allocate billions for roads, metro, and territorial development.

      June 24, 2026 11:30 Economy The Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has approved the list of subsidies for the budgets of municipalities and urban districts for 2026 and the planned period until 2028. The document has been published on the website of the regional Ministry of Finance. The largest item of expenditure will be the modernization of the sewage system and the reduction of the share of polluted wastewater. About 3.8 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes from federal and regional budgets. Another 3.7 billion rubles of federal funds are earmarked for the comprehensive development of rural areas. Additionally, 237 million rubles will be allocated from the regional budget. 2.6 billion rubles have been allocated for the redevelopment projects of historical areas in Nizhny Novgorod. The funds will be used, among other things, for the engineering preparation of the Pochaev Ravine and the creation of a park zone. About 2 billion rubles are earmarked for the development of the road industry. Of these, 1.45 billion rubles will go to the capital repair and maintenance of local roads, and another 328 million rubles will be allocated for the design and construction of new facilities. 1.45 billion rubles will be directed towards the comprehensive development of the Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration. Funding is provided, in particular, for the extension of the metro from the "Gorkovskaya" station to "Sennaya" and "Sormovskaya," the construction of a bypass of Gagarin Avenue, and the modernization of electric transport. More than 1.9 billion rubles are allocated for the resettlement of citizens from emergency housing. Of these, 1.25 billion rubles will be directed to resettlement, and another 653 million rubles will be used to compensate for the difference in housing costs. About 2.2 billion rubles from federal and regional budgets will be allocated for free hot meals for primary school students. Additionally, 1 billion rubles will be allocated annually for the "You Decide!" initiative budgeting project. Furthermore, 792 million rubles of federal funds are earmarked for the construction of kindergartens, and 775 million rubles will be allocated for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements. Another 109.1 million rubles will be directed towards events dedicated to the anniversaries of municipal formations. In particular, 27.6 million rubles are allocated for the celebration of the 120th anniversary of test pilot Valery Chkalov.
